used 700 kw less electricity during coldest 8 weeks of winter with new heat pump installation!!

one lesson l have learned is to set the thermostat and NEVER change it!! living alone, i used to lower the temp while at work 12 shift. i had it programmed to start running when i clocked out. i ended up using an EXTRA 300 kw monthly doing this.

Interesting observation.

I can well understand your point of intermittent heating and I have often set my gas-fired central-heating timer to a couple of sessions a day, but now wonder if I should leave it on and rely on the thermostat.

Do you find that your heat pump blows cold air at times even when not on defrost mode?

@Orca4950 fortunately i have a boiler as backup on coldest of nights and days
