Resting, had chemo yesterday. Had to be there at 7:15 to check in for lab tests, doctor’s appointment at 8:25 check-in, and chemo was scheduled for 1:30, they didn’t get me into the chemo room till 2:00, they were finished at 6:15…I had a long day. Came home and the boy had cooked steaks in the convection bowl air fryer and mixed up a kale salad. I was worn out….I ate a little bit and said I needed to rest. Went to my lift chair with a puzzle book and my I-pad. Sat down and decided to go to sleep. Slept pretty good till 4:00 and then got up.

@cherokeepatti That is an extremely long day. It's almost as though their scheduler has no thought for the strength of the patients! But you made it through. I am glad. You have some VERY hard days!

@4meAndyou Yesterday was the longest day that I remember.

@cherokeepatti I think I would mention that you don't want another really long day like that the next time you speak to the scheduler.

@4meAndyou The reason was that my onocologist wants to see me instead of having his nurse do it. He switched my chemo back to the other one. I’m glad he did that and made the appointment with him. I think by the time he made the switch the earlier appointments were over scheduled. And i mentioned to him getting sores inside my lip and corner of my mouth since mid-December. I drooled a bit sometimes when I change positions and night tilt over a bit to one side or the other. Too much acid, have to be careful with oranges and other citrus now because of that and the chemo. He sent a prescription to the pharmacy downstairs for a mouthwash he called Magic mouthwash. So I had to pick that up before chemo started. It was a compounded mouthwash that they had to mix up on site and he said he didn’t think Walmart would do that. It has lidocaine, an anti-histamine and Maalox in it. Supposed to use it every 6 hours….it numbed my mouth a lot. I remember now seeing Maalox as a home remedy for those sore. You dab it on with a cotton ball. Think I’ll do that and rinse my mouth with it after the mouthwash is finished.

@cherokeepatti You always seem to know just what to do. I hope the mouth sores get better fast!

@4meAndyou I wish that I had remembered the Maalox remedy. I am buying some when I go to the store next time.

I didn’t realize it till I just read now that Maalox has aluminum hydroxide in it. Aluminum can accumulate in the brain and has been linked to Alzheimers. Probably wouldn’t hurt to dab it on lip sores but I’m not going to drink it.

@cherokeepatti Yes, I remember my Mom had some aluminum pots and pans. AND there is aluminum in anti-perspirants.

@4meAndyou I buy aluminum free deodorants now and don’t use aluminum pans. Do use a little foil to cover the bottom of the air fryer mostly, food doesn’t touch it.
