You know what was interesting?

I recently watched a video essay on how to argue effectively on political issues. The thesis was, when arguing with conservatives, it’s far more effective to bring up things like honor and purity and economics than it is to bring up morals and humanity.

It is true, it’s not wrong. And this is the world we live in. As my favorite union rep on here says “do you want to be right or do you want to win?”

Remember what you’re standing against that you have to do this, but also remember winning is what matters. Not winning on your terms. That entire ideology must be stopped for the good of everyone.

Don’t talk about what would convince you; focus on what would convince them. Worry about a world without that heartless opposition another day.

Today is not the day for that.

The key to any effective argument is staying calm and not getting emotionally involved, which is something that I see the vast majority of people do, and I find it puzzling.

It also brings out, in my opinion, some of the ugliest behavior of mankind.

There might be a fight out there, but it's surely not with each other and certainly no one here.

I must be a freak because I can listen to another point of view that is 180 degrees out with mine and not get homicidal. This does not mean that I lack conviction or passion for certain subjects, people, etc., I'm just not going to throw hammers at people. That separates me from...lots of others.
