Why do some people feel the need to call someone dumb

I never see the point of calling someone dumb unless they affected your life or hurting other people. 🤣

Someone called me mentally challenged today.

It's a way of dismissing you and not trying to be helpful.
Our family had a psychiatrist who called people crazy - it wasn't because he was offering treatment - he was turning his back.
