When and how was the last time you almost died?

About 2,5 years ago for me. Barely avoided being squashed under tons of heavy machinery. Strange how narrow the path of living is sometimes.

2020 after surgery to remove a cancer, and while still in the hospital, I had an infection that quickly turned into a near killer of an infection.

It was methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and was not detected quickly... I ended up in intensive care until finally an infectious disease specialist identified it and began treatments.

It was touch and go and I stayed in intensive care for 5 days before they got it controlled.

Fortunately, I was out of it for nearly the entire time. When I did regain consciousness and began asking questions, my ex, a Nurse Practitioner who runs the hospital's palliative care program, showed me where I had been placed in her program.

@SW-User it was a real challenge and that's for sure. Fortunately, my ex stayed on their asses until they figured out what was going on.

It's kind of comical, because now that the staff at the hospital knows I'm her ex, I get Red Carpet treatment there😁

The worst part was afterwards... the treatments and long recovery took it out of me.

@SW-User I did and more... she is my best and most trusted friend. We have each other's backs and have a close relationship where we know we can always, in all situations, count on one another.
