I had an incident recently......

Yesterday,I was walking into a store ,and a woman opened a door for me.I have good manners,and usually offer thanks when someone does that for me.But that day my mind was occupied and I said nothing.The woman scarcastically blurted out "THANK YOU."I know that I was technically wrong not to thank her,but I didn't care for her arrogance and smarmy attitude.So I smiled and replied :"You're welcome -but don't expect me to make a regular habit out of it!"

I think "please" "thank you" "excuse me" and "sorry" are words and phrases that have become extinct.

@Strictmichael75 ....and saying "thank you" in a snide, snotty way is as bad too.

@autumngirl27 no, she was showing him he was ignoring her
He was snide in his remark
He xx could easily have said, sorry excuse me
@Strictmichael75 No. I've had people who I've held the door open for as they've gone through, look at me as though I'm something nasty on their shoe. As though they expected me to do that. As though they had a right.

@autumngirl27 exactly
And the woman in question felt exactly the same and remarked it by saying thank you!
@Strictmichael75 There was nothing in David's post that suggested that. He said he was preoccupied with something or other, and didn't notice. And he held his hand up and admitted it. I'm talking about those who turn round and scowl at you.

@Strictmichael75 I read David's post. What do you think you're trying to prove by copying it? Whatever it is you think you're trying to do, you haven't succeeded.
