How would you react if your woman surprised you with a abortion?

How would you feel if you were sleeping with a steady girlfriend for a year, everything was going great, moved in together, and one day you get back and see her sleeping early in bed. You crawl in under the covers and start running your fingers along her hips, and she lovingly rolls away from you, turning her back saying "Not tonight honey, I just had a abortion" and then falls asleep like nothing just happened.

I’d be asking myself why there wasn’t a conversation and maybe looking at what’s wrong in the relationship and if you can go forward from it.
I would personally never condone that without discussing it with the father of the child whether it’s supposed to be our bodies or not. That is not acceptable.

@Primnproper Thank you for acknowledging that the fetus is in fact a child and that the man is their father. That doesn't seem to matter to many people

@TexasDude you’re welcome. I’ve never been afraid to be different. If we as women can drag guys through the courts for maintenance in break ups then they sure as hell deserve a say in a decision like that.

@TexasDude
the fetus is in fact a child
Not sure why you call it a fetus then?
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@ffony Because it's simply the Latin word for child. Fetus literally means "offspring" and was always used in the context of a child until recent history
ffony · M
@TexasDude O me miserum: My Latin was 60+ years ago and nearly all forgotten; although it still helps me guess at the meanings of words I haven't seen before.

I believe most English-speakers nowadays interpret fetus (should probably be foetus but what the hell) as the growing contents of a pregnant womb. If you want to get pickier than that I'm literally not interested. And I do know what 'literally' means.

Fact(?) is when I say 'fetus' and 'child' you know perfectly well what I mean and there's no reason for confusion unless you want a politicized debate about abortion. I guess you do, but I consider that the 'rights' or ''wrongs' about abortion can be complex and are related to individual circumstance: Not to be treated as polarized opposing ideologies.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@ffony No I don't want a political debate. This isn't political, it's life and death.

Honestly, I said fetus just for clarity in that sentence. They are a human being who shouldn't be killed
ffony · M
@TexasDude I believe you were suggesting there is no difference between a fetus (in current parlance) and a child, in order to support your own anti-abortion ideology. I do call that political although there are doubtless more appropriate words (I'm not being flippant). I strongly support the notion that individual cases merit individual attention and should not be ruled by any rigid & impersonal ideology.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@ffony I believe in the fact that all humans are equal and all have value. Of course there is no difference between an unborn child and a born child. Bothe are human, both deserve to live, both are still growing and developing
ffony · M
@TexasDude If it really was a fact you wouldn't have to believe it.

That's a known fact 🙂
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@ffony I was responding like you did to make a point. Those are facts
ffony · M
@TexasDude
"I've never seen an opinion that didn't think it was a fact"
- Me
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@ffony So you don't think that all humans are equal and have value?
ffony · M
@TexasDude Those are two different questions. Nice try.

You don't have the data to guess at what I "don't think".
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@ffony I'm not guessing. I asked an honest, non rhetorical question. You could see it as two but it's basically all one in this context. However, you best understand it, it's still a simple, honest request for information, not a guess.
ffony · M
@TexasDude Now I understand why someone suggested we should pray for Texas 😄.

There may be ways in which I would consider 2 humans 'equal' but you'd have to be much more specific and I'd have to know them quite well.

As for the 'value' of a human - even one I know real well: I have no idea how to put a number to that, or even what sort of units a person could use.

Those are honest, thoughtful, non-rhetorical answers.

As for context, it seems yours is not mine, so this 'discussion' is pointless.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@ffony Seriously, why do people on the internet have to be so juvenile? "Pray for Texas..."all the Texas insults are just childish.

And I find it extremely disturbing that you don't automatically think all humans are equal. That you'd need any details beyond "human" is creepy. That's how racism and similar bigotry starts.

Anyway, the real point of all this is how wrong abortion is because it's wrong to kill an innocent human being
