Breast Implants

Bit of a random title, I guess, but just a little thought about that today.

The BBC news were doing an article on breast implants and the dangers of the silicone implants. Now, back in - I think - the 90's there was a whole thing about faulty implants that had a habit of leaking. Sounds funny ha ha, right? Well, no.

Silicon can cause lifelong medical illness and pain as it's absorbed into the body. It can lead to death too. And, I mean, people have breast implants for many reasons, not just because of vanity. Cancer survivors have breast reconstruction for not only physical wellbeing but mental and emotional wellbeing too.

The lady in the report had leakage and, with the NHS waiting lists being as they were, she was having to undergo funding it herself, to the tune of £11k, I think she said.

So, it's always been a little fear of mine, that has. I, myself, have had breast implants for a very long time, due to work and have had, I wouldn't know what the actual terminology is, a 'retread' every 10-11 years. My next surgery should be next year...and, yes, I obviously pay private.

Thankfully I've never had any leakage or incidents with mine.

Just been a little on my mind.

They are dangerous if they leak for sure. Why did you get them? Did you ever think they were a waste of money? And surgeries always have a risk no matter what.

@PoetryNEmotion Why? Well, try telling that to your pimp! That's what went down with me. Thankfully it was a reputable surgeon etc. So, that first lot, no I didn't pay for them directly, just indirectly. That was, of course, 'back in the day'....

I wouldn't say they were a waste of money. Fact is, let's talk money here for a second...which I am loathed to do...they cost, at the time, I think around £6k for the op and procedure...I make around £150k a year from my work. Would I have made the same without them? I don't know..

Anyways. It is my money that I am using. I've worked hard for it.

Yes, any surgery can have it's risks as well as benefits. I'm very well aware of that.

@PoetryNEmotion Yes, I still hook. Family tradition really. Something that I wasn't coerced into, as such, but fell into being around the 'wrong people'...hence the pimp at the time. One and only pimp. Thankfully, freelance since then. That was 30 years ago or so now.

Oh, I'm much smarter, thank you. That's the idea isn't it? We grow older we become smarter..

@SammyJo I find that sad. You could get education. Selling your body will get old. Traditionx are supposed to be positive. Aren't you worried about getting raped or beaten? Even kidnapped and killed?

Hopefully. I meant you were not smart to get involved in it from your family. I do.not feel you are smart now continuing with it. That is how I feel. Be safe. No need to debate.

@PoetryNEmotion Sweetheart, I AM old! 54, this year. I will continue until I retire. Yes, I was raped earlier in my career. Not nice for anyone.

I am well educated. I have a side job as a qualified counsellor, dealing with individuals - usually other hookers - with drink and drug issues. I am well read...I speak a few languages....I am good.

The problem with people....and not just you....is that others are 'valued' by their frame of reference....and, just because they don't 'fit' your frame of reference doesn't make them any less valuable than you. We are all who we are.

@SammyJo You can live your life however you want. I do not have to agree. You say you are well educated yet you continue to sell your body for money despite the fact it is dangerous and unhealthy.That isn't smart to me. Yes, you are older. And that is sad that you are still doing this. You are not as intelligent as you think. Adios.
