Sounds like something I'd say after I had finished the second weekend of an EST seminar.

I don't like this. I express myself to relieve stress. It self-soothes. I do not express of anyone but me.

This is profound. Thank you for sharing, my friend. 🌟

This sounds nice but I wonder if we can truly say
"the rest of the animals of
the world who simply follow their genetic
codes". How are we able to declare that the great whales and dolphins are incapable of grasping the principles of character and skills? Our inability to communicate with them may be our flaw not theirs. Or do we conclude they are lesser creatures because they lack
opposable thumbs? This sounds like so much of mankind's propensity to degrade others in an effort to appear superior.
We should develop our better selves but not by comparing ourselves to other creatures.

Oh I like that!
I like our whole selves. I want my mediocrity to breathe without shame, and I want the people in my life to know they’re welcome and worthy even on the days their better selves are too tired to show up. But this is a lovely reminder of direction. It’s okay that we’re not always everything we can be, but it’s easy to forget that we can be. I know I sure have, and I do believe that happiness lies in turning one’s face in that direction. Wonderful post to share! 😄🤗💕

When a dog sees a squirrel it follows its animalistic genetic code and chases it.
Many humans are like that, too, chasing after their own metaphoric squirrels.
Comedians and memes often express this idea as if they were a dog distracted by a squirrel.
They look over and exclaim, "Squirrel!"
