Getting married, or civil partnership, not conducted in church or administered by a member of the clergy or religious elder of some sort depending on religion etc

If it's a wedding, it's like going to city hall to get married rather than to a church or whatever.

@Vincent1235 that is a civil ceremony- getting married at a courthouse or city hall. I had a civil ceremony where I was married at a family member’s home by a Judge.

@Jenny1234 but why do they want to do a civil ceremony
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Vincent1235 church weddings, while legal, are for people who want to be married “in God’s eyes”. Civil unions/ceremonies are legal and people do them for many different reasons Some people don’t want to get married in a church. I got married in Mexico to a Catholic and I am not Catholic and wasn’t going to convert so we did a civil ceremony to make things easier.

A wedding without religious nonsense

A ceremony that follows all norms and social etiquettes for that certain ceremony.
A fake marriage
@IamCuriousBabe Except that my aunt and her second husband are both agnostic, hence the civil ceremony.

@NativePortlander1970 I do get why you may feel it's fake.
@IamCuriousBabe I am an Atheist myself, so I understood why they chose a Justice of the Peace.
