Words of advice...

What are words of wisdom from personal experience you would give someone. (*No matter what the topic)

I will start the ball rolling with... Respect begets respect.

It is okay to say no.
So many people take advantage of people who are always giving of their time.
This leads to to person being asked to do stuff for other people all the time losing control of their lives.
The giver ends up with very little "me time" and becomes run down and despondent.
Saying no shows you respect yourself and are prepared to stand up for yourself.
Saying no gives you back control of your life.

Don't touch that it burns.
If someone is nattering on about a subject that bores you, try to listen. It's surprising how often reluctantly gained knowledge becomes useful.

Lead with respect.
Follow with responsibility.
Learn to not expect but the more you accept, your dilemmas will be fewer.

@jshm2 To add to that. Fools lead fools but people of wisdom will lead great armies.
@jshm2 Here's a few variations on that:

"Wise men don't need advice. Fools won't take it."
— Benjamin Franklin

“Rules were made for fools to follow and wise men to be guided by.”
— Winston Churchill

"A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool."
— William Shakespeare

"Do not correct a fool, or he will hate you; correct a wise man, and he will appreciate you."
— Proverbs 9:8

Only take advice from people who are good at the topic you need help with.
“If it disagrees with experiment, it’s wrong. In that simple statement is the key to science.”
— Richard P. Feynman

“When someone says 'science teaches such and such', he is using the word incorrectly. Science doesn't teach it; experience teaches it.”
— Richard P. Feynman

"The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool." — Richard P. Feynman
