Did this person give me right advice?

I started working at a part-time job where Im on my feet almost all of the time;however,Im lucky in the sense that its acceptable to take off your shoes while working.I was talking a woman who works as a nurse, and she told me that its better to do so as soon as my feet hurt a little and not to wait untill they are absolutely killing me.Does this make sense?

What type of work do you do that would allow you to take off your shoes?

@chrisCA High end retail where the counter between the clerk and the customers is waist-high.

@KT2002 So you only remove your shoes behind the counter?

@chrisCA Its where most of the actual business is conducted for my job.Later at night or near closing, its not unusual to walk around the sales floor in stockings.

@KT2002 Okay. I was just curious. I was looking at it from a health and safety point of view, and whether customers would think it looked unprofessional.

@chrisCA Well, the floors are carpeted and the few customers who have seen it either dont care or think thats its cute.

@KT2002 I remember one woman noticed my stocking feet and got this smirk on her face. She made a funny remark and I made one back that made her laugh!

@KT2002 Was she flirting with you?

@chrisCA I dont belive so;just teasing me because she thought it was cute or funny.
