what's the difference between a hermit and a monk?

Monks have religious beliefs, hermits don't necessarily do.

I sort of consider myself closer to a hermit. Though not exactly one. I certainly don't interact with a lot of people in real life. Unlike on the internet.

Monks abide by a monastic rule as part of a hierarchical system, hermits do their own thing.
