I usually just smile. Our neighbor stopped talking to us because she blames our dog for teaching her dog to bark at cars. 🤷🏻♀️ I thought that was a dog’s job - bark at cars.

for what ever reason you do not want to interact with strangers they are only being courteous . i am sure a hello or a exchange of pleasantries would not hurt [morbidcynic]
@smiler2012 this isn’t common in my home country. Americans make so much unnecessary small talk.

It's a normal and friendly thing to do. It's better than bumping into each other because the phone is more important.
