Should one have a cold heart and stop caring?

I mean I don't think caring a lot helped me in my life. I help strangers to end up watching them crush my heart beyond measure.

I feel being cold-hearted preserves you from being hurt. What's your take on it?

For me it's not possible..I can get empathy fatigue..but I never stop caring..even if I wanted to..I couldn't do it ...curse this caring heart of mine😖

@SW-User I'm the same. It's like a curse. Hurts more and I end up hurt but I still end up doing my best to help someone in need.

@SW-User I really do understand what you mean. From experience, it does suck a part out of me when it breaks. Idk why but sometimes I wish I could learn my damn lesson and move ahead without giving a crap.
