Yesterday, for the first time in my 29 years of life on this planet, I did a split.

My partner was showing me exercises he's been doing to increase his flexibility. I'd been working on increasing my flexibility too. I've always wanted to do the split since I was a child but I never tried to learn how to do it. Last year I was in a livestream chat where one of the chatters said they had trained themselves to do the split so I got inspired and made it a goal. I even placed it on my resolutions list for this year, now I can tick that off the list. My man was so impressed,it was fun. I like doing things I've always wanted to do at the back of my mind. That's the fun of growing up, rediscovering your childhood dreams and having the courage and self-esteem to achieve them.

:) many, many years ago we had a Christmas party and friends brought their then 80 year mom. We were all impressed when we learned the mom, in her 20s, had been a Ziegfeld Follies Dancer. Our then 10 year old daughter had a small part in the city's Nutcracker and our exposure and awareness of the physical condition of dancers had been gained by watching a dozen or so rehearsals and practices, mostly centered around the professional dancers.

At some point the 80 year old mom bragged about having stayed in shape for the 50+ years after her dancing career. She then demonstrated such by wrapping her legs around her neck.
