I Am Learning Self-respect, Self-care, And Self-love

We’ve been told to protect our outer man when our inner man is dying.

You feed that ego

@gol979 sure it may be the norm, and we're constantly reminded that it is, but it doesn't give it any more justification. and we're all guilty of playing it by society's rules: humans, as we are, are after all, alike sheep. Only, we are given the gift of free will, high functioning interpretation and perspective of values regarding how we ingest and act on societal norms (as opposed to assuming by default that we must follow them in order to survive)

@leucanthus143 that is easier to say when you have a different perspective but to arrive at that frame of mind you either have to be shown or stumble upon it.......and then you have to reject your cognitive mapping, as directed by society, and you may have to be a slight pariah. So I would say there's a slight justification and it doesn't fall in the realms of wilful ignorance

@gol979 It really is just what I've experienced, I'm open to the fact that people don't/will ever see it like I do. But I've always just found better and fruitful outcomes come from behaviours and actions that aren't--at their core--for self-righteous and self-serving purposes, but instead for those that are genuinely selfless, and that come with the acknowledgement that there are bigger things that matter than our own selves and "needs"--especially living with privileges like everyday access to internet, food and water; there's really no reason to be discontent.

And yet, here some of us are.
