I Am Still Working On My Self Esteem

Why do I need accolades?

I just got back from an amazing day at work, where I felt truly effective, competent, and confident (and let me tell you, fresh out of school and into the career world... that feeling doesn't come around as often as I'd like). But anyways, I felt elated.
It just bothered me that I felt a strong urge to call someone, anyone, to let them know what an amazing day I had.

Is that normal?
Is that okay?

It made me stop and try to figure out why it was so important for me to gain the validation of others. Why did I crave the pat-on-the-back, "good job", so much? I could attempt to deny it and knowingly lie to myself, try to say that I had other motivations, but I know that wouldn't get me anywhere.

So, I'm just going to be upfront about it. I enjoy an applause. Is that so bad?

None of us were made to be alone. So your right on we need support and validation,as well accountability when required.
