I Am Always Improving Myself

i just finished grade 5 piano exam which i had prepared for 1.5 years. as usual, i was nervous. things i wouldn't made mistakes at home were played wrong in the exam, and things i usually played wrong during practice were played right during exam. i kept on talking to my teacher about my mistakes, he said i was worrying too much, the examiner would understand the candidates were nervous and would be less strict in grading, which i hope so.

what i couldn't understand is that at this age i would still be nervous about an exam, and an exam which was just for a hobby. i was quite scared at the examiner as well like student facing teacher, though she s very nice throughout the exam when i made quite a lot of mistakes she was professional keeping the same friendly face. i sometimes attribute my fear to the overly strict and fierce teachers i had in schools many years ago and this is still affecting me.

i wish i knew how to handle stress better.
。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。
11.11.16, i got the letter of exam result. 120 points, just enough to get a merit. :)

First I want to appreciate your effort in practising for the exam. I really admire and want to say you did something incredible by putting your effort to achieving something good :) Now, you must realise that we are humans. Any body can actually be courageous, bold, nervous or scared of something. But there is something that has to be considered about what we learn or what we want to learn. You need to accept the fact that what you are learning is for your benefit. You are not learning it because you want to write an exam, but because you see it as something that you can benefit from. When you play the piano, enjoy it. When you play listen to the beauty of the song and try to access yourself by listening to what you play and imagining you are the audience. Do you like what you hear? Are you inspired or moved by the music you hear? Then play to the beauty and likeness of the music piece based on the dynamics or based on how the composer wanted to express the piece.Learn and learn in such a way that what you learn becomes a part of you. When you want to practise or attempt something new, first have a positive mindset in such a way that you should not think of whether it takes time or not. Attempt it first. Be excited to learn something that is good and is productive. Learn and enjoy what you learn. Express what you learn in your activities. I believe you'll be ok :) I would like to encourage you to Keep practising! When you practise you naturally become more familiar with the subject and it naturally becomes a part of you. Wishing you the Best in life!
