I do this too. I just had a friend call me out on it. I didn’t realize how much it hurt and confused him. I’m like… I just need to hibernate sometimes. it helps when they understand it’s not personal.

Having read this makes a lot of sense but it doesn't help when trying to make a friend.
I personally need an attentive person. So this would be a waste of both out expectations and time.
