@SW-User I think that there is something impersonal and cold about a computer/device. Books have the tactile feel, the feeling of knowing how many pages are left by touch, the smell, not needing a battery, reading by a dim light in the middle of the night all bring different senses together to become more engrossed in the story. I've tried to read on my device and I just can't do it. @lauriethecolourful

As a child we started out holding a book - that's how we started a literary experience 🙂

I imagine children today will have an earlier experience with e-books and formulate a relationship with them as a result?

@SW-User I think so? Obviously I can only speak for myself. I like the sensory experience of it ... turning each page and the feeling of accomplishment of closing the covers when you have finished. Then there is the smell ... I love the smell of book stores. LOL!

A lot of us are simply more conditioned to reading a physical book. Add to that the added eye strain of a monitor. Plus, research indicates reading comprehension may decrease by as much as 25% when reading electronically.

Personally i like the feel and smell of a real book.
Just seems to add to the experience of reading, for me anyway.

I got my mother a Kindle last Christmas and she loves it !

E-books are a miserable experience. Something about the cover art and paperback feels so much better.
