I Need Someone to Talk to

My feelings are mixed about this situation.
My friend got a call today at a job interview she did yesterday and advancing to the next round. She's a teacher and so round 2 means you do a lesson and the principal and assistant principal watch you teach the class for 1 period.
While I'm happy she's advancing, I don't want her to get the job. I don't wanna be selfish but there are a lot of unfinished business here at the old job that she has and a lot of the students depend on her. For her to leave them... It's just a disservice to them. And on top of that, I need her here too. She's been my guide as I enter teaching and without her I'm lost.
I always support her and she's my best friend but I Hate that I feel this way. I'm just not ready for her to leave me or any of our students just yet. I just feel like it isn't right.
I've been feeling this way since last week and crying all day and night. I fake a smile but I wish I could just tell her not to leave. Not yet.

No you are thinking of the greater good. It’s her problem for being go selfish, it’s disgusting for her to leave children hanging like that.

@Sadwithasmile disgusting, isn't it possible that she can progress in her life and the students get an even better teacher? Why does it have to have negative connotations?

@JimboUk I had several teachers leave us mid-year. It never went better, completely new way of teaching, completely different individual behaviours takes a long time to get used to and usually they are annoyed to be doing the job. She signed up for the job, she gets paid to give students a years worth of education and it’s her job to keep up her side of the bargain.

@Sadwithasmile ur right. It's happened a lot in our sxhool. Teachers leave mid year and you get a new person taking over. The kids are already used to a certsin routine so bringing in a new adult and changing it isn't gonna be easy.
New method of teaching will onky throw them off and lower their performance. Which is why I honestly feel it's not the best fkr her to go now. Had this been in Aug, I wouldn't have a problem. But nov/Dec is just not fair to the kids.

@Sadwithasmile I had one teacher leave mid term after having a mental breakdown in the middle of class as no one was listening to her. She started smashing things off the wall, crying her eyes out and left never to be seen again. She was replaced by the head of Science, the man was an incredible teacher and I never learn so much as I did with him. So let's not say, never for the better.

@JimboUk ur situation is different. The teacher was in an crisis. And it was possible she was displaying it to the students, therefore in order to replace her it needed to be with someone who could turn the entire trauma you guys witnessed around and make the environment a safe, fun learning place.

@JimboUk non of my teachers were going through a breakdown.

@MovieMusicGal I accept it's not a everyday case but using a phrase like "never for the better" is quite definite isn't it? The point I'm trying to make is you can turn this situation into a positive for both parties without thinking the walls are about to crave in. She can improve her situation and the students could end up with an even better teacher. So if I was you I'd support your friend in her decision. Either way good luck to the both of you.

@Sadwithasmile we all have different experiences.
