Need advice

I am not saying how I feel about the way my parents are, I just want to see if you agree with them or not. I totally admit I lied about going to a friends lm not supposed to go around but j did it because he’s a good guy and my parents are holding his past over him. So my stepdad just said that he knew I was lying and took me to his bedroom and gave me the belt. Right or wrong of him?
