I need cooking advice please [I Need Advice]

I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I'm trying to train myself to meal prep more often and eat out less and its starting to become a bad habit again. Problem is I'm a terrible cook and I don't have much time between work and sleep.

I'm just looking for stupid simple meal ideas like meatloaf or stir fry or whatever, can ya help a guy out?

Congrats on the lifestyle change! Do you have a slow cooker? I use mine all the time. I work nights so I just put everything and let it cook while I sleep. I always end up with plenty of leftovers too.

@SooperSarah yup and a rice cooker. love those things
@JestAJester look up one skillet meals. They're usually pretty easy recipes to follow.

@JestAJester You can stick a whole chicken in a slow cooker and season it and roast it that way, add some veggies if you want them a bit after the chicken has cooked. You can also use chicken pieces. And cook a roast that way too.

@cherokeepatti im not good at seasoning, always seems to come out bland

@JestAJester You can experiment. I use dry herbs on chicken and use quite a bit of them , lots of black pepper and some salt.

@JestAJester One recipe I saw on a food channel show and it is very easy and tastes good. It might not be for everyone but I made it quite a few times. Take chicken pieces like leg quarters and cook them in a crockpot on low with a can of chopped tomatoes, chopped onion, salt & pepper & cumin (quite a bit like a tablespoon)….cook till the chicken falls apart. Remove the skin and bones & serve with bread for sandwiches. Also can be eaten with rice.
@cherokeepatti I'm currently obsessed with smoked paprika. I did a diet a few years ago that relied heavily on seasonings and herbs. At first it all tasted bland because I was so used to using sugary sauces on everything. Once my palate got used to real flavors there was no going back.

@SooperSarah I used to have a can of smoked paprika and it does add a depth of flavor that ordinary paprika doesn’t have I can’t find it anywhere here for sale now.

@cherokeepatti making these lifestyle changes is so freaking hard. especially when you got cravings. Trying to give up eating out and trying to give up soda which is so damn difficult
@cherokeepatti I order mine from penzeys spices

@JestAJester Yes it is difficult in the beginning. It’s a gradual process. Giving up soda drinks is one of the healthiest things you can do. I like to drink ice tea and some types of herb teas instead of soda. Anything with corn syrup can feed intestinal cancer and causes a host of other health problems. I have learned to cook different types of dishes I used to have in restaurants, partly due to the price of restaurant food or getting a bad meal at a restaurant. You can save a lot of money cooking at home. Stir-fries are pretty easy to make if you have the ingredients. Fried rice is also easy and you can add whatever meat you have cooked to it. I learned to make homemade versions of soup like cream of mushroom soup or cream of broccoli soup in order to avoid mono sodium glutamate, they taste so much better. If I had a bit of canned soup after a few years of avoiding it then it tasted too nasty compared to homemade. I also learned to make homemade pizza, there are so many ways of making pizza crust. The easiest recipe for me is the Greek-yogurt Plus Self-rising pizza crust (you can substitute sour cream which is less expensive instead of buying Greek yogurt). This recipe is one of my favorite ones now and I can also make a gluten-free version… the recipe is on Pinterest and it’s for a thin-crust pizza.
