Should I stay or should I go? [I Need Advice]

I’m 22, and I’m in college. My parents are pretty overprotective. This summer, a friend from another state came to visit, and we had a great time. I have since made plans to visit her in a few weeks (I’d be flying out of state, and my parents have no idea.) I paid for the flight myself, and I’d be staying with my friend and her parents for a few days. My friend also said she will pick me up from the airport, and she has already taken off work. I feel guilty for not telling my parents, but I feel that I should be able to have independence and be able to travel alone. (I’ve flown MANY times before, just never by myself.) Should I go?

If you are mature enough to go on your own then you should have no problem telling your parents because otherwise you would just be proving to them that you're not mature enough because you're trying to hide this from them. They're only trying to keep you safe and from getting into Danger but if you make them feel like they cannot trust you and then you're going to make your life a lot harder with them.
