It depends on how often and how far you think you'll be traveling ...
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@AllAboutLaffs It will be at least once a week, and anywhere from 100 - 150 miles.
AllAboutLaffs · 70-79, M
@skmokisses Well, use $0.25 per mile ... and compare that total to the stipend they're offering ...
AllAboutLaffs · 70-79, M
@skmokisses Actually, I would factor in 1.5-2 times per week .... and hopefully, you're not driving a leased vehicle now.
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@AllAboutLaffs NO, thank goodness!

@skmokisses Good luck on that negotiation ...
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@AllAboutLaffs Just estimating it looks like it could be roughly 700 miles a month.

@skmokisses $175 reimbursement for mileage vs what for stipend ??

And remember, what is not covered, you can take off on taxes (I think)
AllAboutLaffs · 70-79, M
@skmokisses And for 2019, the IRS is allowing $0.58 per miles for business travel

EDIT: just checked ... looks like the deduction is available only for self-employed. But, most employers are using the 0.58/mile rate ... so do some recalculations

@AllAboutLaffs We are currently reimbursed mileage at a rate of .55 per mile, so I'm figuring around $385. Should I decided lean toward the stipend I would propose a figure. Just trying to decided if it's worth it or stick w/ the reimbursement.

@skmokisses Just keep good records (when, where, why and mileage) ... you may not need it for the stipend but you will for the reimbursement
