Or buying the newest device which is very minimally different from the previous version, when you have the previous one already? Wake up, sheeple! Consumerism and corporatism. Consumerism and corporatism everywhere...

Yup. 1984 was merely about a quarter century off. It's why I used the term "sheeple."

I think a lot of things were already being put into place by then though so he wasn't that far out. I never wanted to believe it was anything but a dystopian fantasy, but then I look at the world now and the way everything seems to be headed....

It's pretty bleak, though entertaining in its own way. I don't think we're at that point yet, but it's easy to see how we could end up there if people don't pull themselves out of their collective slumber.
