What do the stars look like where you live? Can you see the Milky Way? If so, how clearly?

*sigh* I'm dying to stargaze in a good location (impossible to do in Orlando). I'm someone who's been in love with space for longer than she can remember, yet I've only seen the Milky Way once, and that was when I was 9. I did enjoy it and appreciate it, but I wasn't old enough to truly appreciate it like I would now. And the sky's the best during the Winter, and Winter break is the only time I have to really go to places... Winter break just started. I'm really wondering just where I could go... even if it's for a couple of days...

I can't see the stars unless I drive far enough from town.

Same here... unless I go out long after midnight, I can't really see the stars...

That sucks. :/
It's nice getting away from the city, though, and seeing many stars dot the sky after not being able to see them for a while.
