If all the world's a stage, where does the audience sit?

Philosophically one could argue that the audience could be considered God. Or the NSA or former KGB, I guess. But remember, more than anyone else, the audience pays attention to the people that are actually doing things, not the ones that are supposed to be trees and stand around doing nothing but wave their branch-arms about aimlessly. Also, your acting can be bad, and you should feel bad for that. Get your act together and actually do something if you want to be remembered for your greatness :P

The original quote does not mention the audience. It states that we are all players. So you are the player and the audience all at once. It was Shakespeare right?

Of course. Midsummer Night's Dream. But in a stage, the actors don't watch their own play. They perform for an audience. xD
