Are you more a DIYer, or do you buy the cheapest thing/best reviews/first thing you see/get someone else to do it type?

Or do you like things that other people handmade? Or do you buy the most expensive brand-name product simply because you're a show-off and don't care as much about quality as you do about the brand name?It's hard being a strong DIYer in a family with a "buy the thing with the best reviews" type of dad and "buy the cheapest acceptable thing" type of mom.
