I am here for the same reason. Lying in bed is just frustrating. Do you suffer from insomnia or is this just a temporary or one off thing

I don't suffer from insomnia. Though recently these episodes have increased alot. Where I can't sleep and lay on bed frustrated.

I have chronic insomnia so its a little different but, The whole thing about counting sheep does not work. While you are on here, try this exercise. Breath in for a count of 4 seconds, hold your breath for 5 seconds and then breath out for 8 seconds. This will slow down your heart rate a little and pretty soon you will feel more relaxed and will make your departure to go to sleep. Now after 6 hours sleep in the last 7 days, I need a new exercise to work for me.

I am so sorry about it and I will try that. Thanks 😊

Ok then, I'll throw one more thing at you then. Insomnia is cause when your brain is 1.) far to active being negative, or 2.) far to active being Positive, and 3.) far too active doing 1&2. So you need to change it up a little. Keep doing your exercises but when you do try to sleep again, close your eyes and try to visualise a wooden dining chair, slowly spinning. As it turns try to see the grain of the wood, and the small details like the join of the backrest to the base of the seat. And when you have just about done this. Stop for 2 minutes, continue breathing and this time try visualise it in colour. It's amazing.. What you will find is when you are sleep deprived and you try this, the first time you do it, your brain will do it in black and white.

How many people reading this post are trying to see if they are visualising in B&W right now???
Iknowme · 26-30, M
Well you hit the home run on the cause of the insomnia and I will give it a try visualizing these fine details. It might just work.

Good luck, I'm going to have a shower and get ready to go to work. 9 hours of pretending to be normal and rested. Hopefully I'll talk to you again all rested. Remember, At all times your pillow is your friend!!

One more thing apersonlikeme: Just saw a post above. If you cant sleep and you get frustrated. Its ok to pick up the phone and go on here, but its alot better for you to start some behaviour conditioning and at least get out of bed with your phone or use a computer, but just not in bed. You and I need to train our minds to see the bed as having 1 purpose only. Well 2.. but that is a whole new set of problems there... good luck
