Has anyone seen true evil? Not mental illness either. What was the situation. What did you feel? How did you know?

I strongly believe that my ex was a sociopath. He wasn't violent, I was actually the one who punched him after he stayed with me for a while rent free, then moved straight from my house into another womans house and broke up with me along the way (he stayed with me for a while because apparently he had no where else then he found a place and he told me that she was just a stranger who was going to be his housemate and asked me to carry his bags to the place where she was going to pick him up, then once I we got there he broke up with me to be with her) and he was very sweet except for when he didn't need something (which wasn't very often)

His mother who I got along with really well warned me that he was a narcissist and I believed her, but he played some strange head games with me, games that benefited him in no way, other than for a laugh and I saw him hurt my cat once in a way that could of killed my cat but I jumped in and stopped it. My cat is a sweet cat who was very affectionate towards him. I can't see any reason why a person would want to hurt my lovely cat...

I doubt that this guy will become a serial killer or anything, he is more of a user and hurts people for his own entertainment but I do believe after my experience with him that he is a sociopath rather than a narcissist.

Maybe I am wrong and a little bitter, but I think that sociopaths are true evil, even though they might not kill a person. They aren't mentally ill, they are just lacking the things that make us humans, human. They like to think that they are the next step on the evolutionary scale but I think that they are a few steps behind us. They are still animals because they lack the thing that makes us human and that is a conscience.

I have dealt with abusive guys, I have had one that wanted to kill me. But they still had that little spark in their eyes. As charming and lovely as this guy was, his eyes were dead. There was no spark, there was no fire and there was no light. He was just an animated statue who's personality moulded to fit mine and then when he found someone else, his personality moulded to fit hers. I'm actually not really hurt by it, but despite the fact that I don't think he will kill a person, I just think he was true evil, he was definately capable of it. No remorse whatsoever.

Thank you ox. I was devistated the day he dumped me but it didn't take me to long to realised that I had dodged a bullet, no matter whether he is a sociopath or not.

A blessing in disguise.

I was once a battered woman. I went to meetings offered by my town's crisis center. At one point, the facilitator asked us if our husbands were evil. All said yes but me. I said that evil isn't real. It's just unfulfilled potential.

That was a mistake. The following week, I had tonsillitis, so my voice was very deep and scratchy. One of the women brought her toddler. When she heard me speak, she told him that my voice sounded just like the Devil's. She moved away from me. I was an outcast.

Those christians with their notions of evil are dangerous.

Those who see evil are only seeing their own projections of their own self-image.

I have seen evil. I was raised by evil. I have found that even though evil can hurt you and mess up your thinking etc, it cannot make you evil. I'm living proof that you can live through evil without it contaminating you.
