thats a great Q. I was reading and nasa claims they can see a golfball ob<x>ject in space. Perhaps nasa only looks for stuff that is going to hit the USA or our allies.

There is no technology that keeps an eye on ALL the surrounding space 24/7 that could even detect these small meteor air-bursts. This was a tiny event. Compare it to Tunguska. We have these meteors hitting water on a regular basis. We don't even notice until they hit inhabited land.
