Are there any fun roads to drive in the OC area?

I know the Ortega highway, but I've just moved here and I'm used to roads that are much more challanging...like Hwy 9, Hwy 152 and Bear Creek Rd up in the Santa Cruz area. Any suggestions?

The traffic itself is a hell of a challenge. It'll drive you (no pun intended) insane. Try PCH at rush hour - or any sunny Saturday.

I remember being up there in the Big Sur area not too long after the Northridge quake and thinking "man, this would be a bitch of a place to be if the old San Andreas suddenly lets go"

Oh I know, right? When we had that landslide up there a year or two ago it messed everything up transportation-wise. A serious quake would be epic there!

There was a slide a couple of years ago - can't remember the town - but someone got it on video. Amazing! The whole hillside just let go! Awesome but scary. Really, none of that area is very stable.

There is nowhere fun to drive, traffic at all hours of the night (and day) gets really irritating

I'm starting to get that. I love everything else about living down here, but I really need to find a nice mountain road with lots of sharp corners that present a real challange. Hwy 74...the Ortega...just too easy.

You might wanna go to Tehachapi, plenty of mountain roads there

Ooooo....been up in that area once...that WAS fun for sure!!! Was hoping for something a little closer to home, but I'll keep that in mind for road trips if I can't find anything closer. :-)

I though that you meant Orange county, which is totally clogged with traffic!

I do mean Orange county...but there must be some great roads with sharp corners up in the mountains around here to go hit, right?

Not without condos and houses anymore. I live in Laguna Beach, and it's changed a lot!
