anyone been a foreign exchange student?

Im fifteen soon and from the USA. if anyone has been an exchange student out of the US i would like to ask a few questions! i'm thinking about Ireland because i am half Irish and i really don't want to learn a new language but will if i have to... I thought about Japan but i'm not sure i'm up for it anymore(not about the uniforms- (which aren't that big of a deal)- and food). i'm thinking Europe or Mexico MAYBE. i've learned a year of spanish so far so that will help. i've been thinking Ukraine or Sweden but anyones help will be greatly appreciated!!!
