After a child is born... why not call em male mom & female dad, since there is a role reversal ?

Mom and Dad are specific to gender not to the roles played. It would be like calling a man she, or a woman he. Just doesn't work. Even in gay families, the parents are reffered to as "My two Dads"

Do we really need these words then? Instead of finding newer terms , aren't we spoiling or misusing the older ones? Just letting everything go wrong. Isn't mom n dad role specific in a family, like director n CEO in a company?
