Observe humans and try to think why they do what they do.
Better still, observe Your own mind and try understand it.

I do that on a daily basis. However, I also want a formal/"proper" understanding of psychology. I can usually fully understand people within 2hrs of talking to them. (Fully understanding them includes: knowing their speech habits, when they're uncomfortable, when they're wanting to discuss a new topic, when they're lying, withholding information, how to motivate them, how to pick apart their brain, etc.)

Then read some psych books?

Read up on the different ones, cool to start from the basic "famous" books.

Any in mind?

I can do the Same, although I am more concerned with why they feel what they feel, and getting them to heal themselves.

But not two hours, people are more complicated than that.
