how does it feel like for you when someone calls you a loser?

My mother called me 'a bit simple' when I was 16. Simply because she was hurting and lashed out. 2 years ago she 'jokingly' said "I wish you'd just die" to my face, she was a bit drunk and I'd said something cheeky, but I was so shocked! that stuff sticks. It's not fitting behaviour for a parent who is supposed to build you up not slap you down. It hurts a lot.

awee cheers for that. My mother called me a loser and compared me to her 'loser siblings'

Maybe she felt like an outcast in her own family and regardless of how hard she tried to raise you different from them, you are like her family anyway. It doesn't say anything about you. It's more about how she feels. Sounds like she has her own family issues. Regardless, it's bad behaviour for a mother to talk to her daughter like that. But it stems from pain, obviously, so it would be wise to take note of that.

yes, it really does stems from pain but she would often compare me to others, esp if I have not achieved something so far that is important to achieve (like jobs for ex).
