Why do so many people on here use the default profile photos?

This is an anonymous site. If you want YOUR picture out there for your neighbours, employers, etc., to google attached to very personal unburdenings here, that's YOUR business. This isn't Facebook, and that's not what this site was originally about. Why don't people GET that ?

Being your own person means you do things your own way. Not "one of the crowd" If I want to use the default profile pics, that is what I will do because I do things my own way. My question is, why would anyone care about that?

I put my picture up before & all i got was people making rude comments about my looks. Funny thing though i looked at their pic and it either was a cartoon or text. Put up or shut up.
