Is everything that happens for our greater good?

I fell hard for someone when I was very young, but I later wished I had never met him. At first he seemed to really like me. Then he started jerking me around, acting like he couldn't decide whether he wanted to be more than friends or not. Then, after almost 2 years of this, he told me that he had only been pretending to like me in order to get my best friend jealous. For a long time after that, I wouldn't let anyone get too close to me.Then, for a long time after I finally learned to start trusting people again, I wished that I had never met him. I wondered if I might have been married with children a long time ago if he hadn't caused me to close myself off. (Of course, it was my choice to close myself off, but it was still hard not to blame him). But then, maybe if it hadn't been for him I might not appreciate the man I'm with now as much as I do. He is a man of integrity, who is very honest and loyal. So did something good come of that? I wonder.

You will never really know. Depends a lot on whether you believe that everything in life is "pre planned" as it were!

Yeah, I'm not sure if everything is preplanned or not. I think the jury is still out on that one.

I believe that we are all masters of our own destiny, but I appreciate that there are a lot of people who don't agree with that!
