God gave us so many good things to enjoy in this life. Family, friends, work, hobbies, learning. They are all gifts from Him.
But when we are hurting, scared, or have big questions, we have to be careful where we look for answers.
The world has a lot of voices. Some of them tell us to look to horoscopes, fortune tellers, or try to contact people who have passed on.
God speaks very clearly about this in His Word.
Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says: Let no one be found among you who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.
Why does God warn us? Because He loves us and He wants to be the One we run to.
When we are weary, He says come to Me.
Matthew 11:28 says: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Psalm 46:1 says: God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.
Jesus is the Great Comforter. He is the Great Physician. He is the One who holds us up when we feel like we can’t stand.
So let’s enjoy all of God’s good gifts. But let’s put all of our trust in Jesus alone. He is enough. He is safe. He is truth.
