Absolutes really do exist, and here's an example of one.
"There are no absolute truths" - True or False?
I ask this question because, whilst at university, I had this teacher, a fan of post-modernism, who thought he could make statements like this in my presence and get away with it.
This one is like the liar paradox (i.e. "This statement is a lie", or "I am lying"). That is, it's self-defeating, therefore inconsistent and illogical, and therefore it cannot possibly be true. It is therefore false.
Since what we have here is at least one example of a falsehood, the belief that some hold to that "all is relative" has been falsified.
