Does anyone know at what point many colleges and universities gave up on teaching reasoning skills?

At what point did it start and how and why. When I was in University the power of reason was a primary instruction, but it has changed somewhat.

@okaybut Yep. Look at how so many people from Harvard or Yale end up running our government. They all went to school together, and so did their fathers.

@okaybut I doubt it. That wasn't even taught when I was in college in the 1960s.
