An app that automatically turns off the TV when adverts come on,then switches it back on the moment they end.

@Entwistle A better solution is a TV that has your channel playing multiple times while recording, It buffers for 30 minutes, when an ad comes on, it switches to a channel where the ads just ended so your show continues and you can't even tell.
