The fact they have ads for it is terrifying, I didn't think we'd reached that point in it's use. I need to catch up on it then jfc.

what the video doesn't really mention is that cas-9 can do the replacement part even though the way it look he is like it's kinda random. No It's targeted and very precise (as far as gene editing is concerned). And they're getting more accurate, two years ago China exponented on dead embryos in the removal of a harmful blood disorder and found some success. Not at a rate that was ethical but nothing like that had been done before.

I've been reading about this.

I think your concerns are well warranted.. I can see lots potential dangers.. everything from the creation of bacterialogic weapons to controlled Eugenics ..
although the technology may be simple in a relative way , and some of the resources to utilize it are becoming easily accessible. the technical expertise required and the extensive experience with genetics necessary to fully utilize this system means that it's going to be a good while before these potential horrors fully emerge..
it's frightening but we're not there yet..

There's a real potential for weaponizing this technology..but it's not something that you could learn to do on the Internet.

If it's anything like the advertised stem cell treatment, it is likeyl bullshit although possibly dangerous. One of the things that often happens is when there's an exciting scientific advancement, all the naturopaths and bullshit artists start trying to peddle it themselves even though there are no clinically approved treatments available. CRISPR is fascinating and... yeah, scary.

Ok so Basically it's the most powerful and effective gene editing technique ever. It's also ABSURDLY cheap comepared to the others I'm talking like 50$ and you could start using this stuff in your basement. meanwhile with other technologies you would need expensive training and thousands of dollars worth of machinery and it's just less effective. While literally anyone can learn to use CRISPR in a few months. On top of that it's much more effective and easier to apply and mistakes aren't as expensive.
