The Cato Institute is a right-wing think-tank funded by oil billionaires. Of course they're going to pay shills to deny global warming

@TinyViolins It's not such an issue to the denying of Global warming, the issue is what's causing it, that seems to be the problem

@TinyViolins common sense and fact also dispel the myth of man made global warming
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@TexChik "Common sense" is just a blanket statement that people with no argument make when they want to promote a stance they're ideologically predisposed to agree with

And the only facts that are relevant when it comes to AGW are the scientific ones, because it is a scientific issue. This isn't a flat earth theory where people can blame the government of a massive cover up just because it suits their anti-government bias. There's really no debate within the scientific field about AGW. It's absolutely real. The only thing they're debating is the details, such as the degree to which climate change will affect different ecosystems and what the timeline for change will be.

I know you don't care much for skepticism or taking the time to research opposing views, but if by some miracle you actually want to contribute something of substance to the conversation, this link here is very informative and goes deep into the science explaining climate change and addressing the claims of climate change deniers: https://www.skepticalscience.com/argument.php

@TinyViolins pfft. The climate changes . All the lib proclaimed disasters always turn out to be BS as do the immediate side effects . NY and Florida were supposed to be under water 30 years ago
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@TexChik And people gain weight. It's a natural process. However, if you gain 50 lbs. in a week, that's something people would be incredibly naive to brush off. That's essentially what's happening with global warming. It's warming at an unprecedented pace. Processes that used to take millions of years are now taking decades.

And as far as places being underwater, it's already happening. A town in Louisiana had to permanently relocate because it's now underwater. Islands in the Pacific Ocean are being swallowed up and forcing those people to move as well. It's not a conspiracy, it's already having effects on people

@JAYS21 Yep. It was dire predictions of "global cooling" in the 70's. Why do so many people fall for this nonsense?
TexChik · F
@JAYS21 oh yes , and acid rain, hole in the ozone layer ... all the bs they can think of
