Can a computer be "too new" for an operating system?
I thought about reinstalling windows 98 on some computer to use it offline for some old games.

possibly, but it'd be kinda odd.
like if you have 32G of memory in dos, it could not be able to use all of it, I expect 98 won't be able to utilize more than 4g. it might not be 64bit compatible.
