Why would my PS4 sometimes take several minutes after booting until it had HDMI connection to the TV?

Loose cable connection? Bad cable? Maybe the console's motherboard is damaged? Maybe the TV?

The first thing I would do is make sure the cable is secure on both ends. If it is, then I would try a different HDMI cable. If you're still having a problem, and your TV has other HTML ports, I would switch to one of those and see what happens. If it's still happening, try hooking your PS4 to a different TV. Wash, rinse, repeat until you've narrowed down where the issue is.

@DunningKruger I don't seem to have that issue when resuming from standby. But I already thought of installing a converter from HDMI to scart.

It could be an issue with HDMI handshaking, which is when the HDMI port on the PS4 and the port on your TV both recognise each other and agree on the data transfer speed etc. I'd google handshaking issues and see if there's anything there that helps.
