Why does Microsoft think it's so funny and cute to remove useful and essential applications and replace them with nothing?

Windows Photo Viewer, Windows Movie Maker, Group Policy Editor, Windows Screen Capture...Microsoft developed these programs, everyone liked them and used them, and then they just decided to axe them and not replace them with anything. So now we have to go hunting around on the web for downloadable files of these programs on sketchy media sharing sites.

i'm with you on this complaint, @BlueMetalChick … indeed, ms has taken out many good staples … and, veritably, ruined most everything else that remained. ms-paint had been removed … but ms decided to bring it back. ms-media-player was another one that bit the dust. remember the games ms used to offer?

eventually, i will replace ms with linux (ubuntu) … however, today's not the day.
