Why does Microsoft think it's so funny and cute to remove useful and essential applications and replace them with nothing?

Windows Photo Viewer, Windows Movie Maker, Group Policy Editor, Windows Screen Capture...Microsoft developed these programs, everyone liked them and used them, and then they just decided to axe them and not replace them with anything. So now we have to go hunting around on the web for downloadable files of these programs on sketchy media sharing sites.

@SW-User Now see I thought so too. I thought "Oh shit they're gonna remove the free programs and replace them with premium versions." But they didn't. After removing the free programs, they just refused to allow you to download them again, even if you offered to pay. So now you have to go to third party websites and apps.
